It is with much sadness that we have to pass on some very upsetting news.
Yesterday afternoon (10/05/03) we were informed that Alice was in a tragic accident whilst kayaking in Laos with Katie Sullivan and Chloe Bonsor. Katie described the accident as 'freak'; Alice and Chloe's kayak was knocked off course, causing Alice to lose consciousness. There was nothing that anyone could do, and Alice drowned late last afternoon.
We are obviously all devastated by the news. As I am sure you are all aware, Alice was very special to a lot of people and will be very sadly missed. Alice was not only a wonderful person; her warmth, caring and fun loving nature touched us all and the amount of sympathy we have received is a testament to her popularity and her great number of friends. Individually, we all have our favourite memories of Alice; her sense of humour, her willingness to try new things, her unstinting generosity that she showed to everyone she met. These are just some of the things we shall remember about her, and of course there are many many more.
It is difficult to put into words what she meant to all of us, and we can only now feel grateful that we were given the chance to know, and love, such an inspiring person. We are yet to find anyone that can say a bad word about her. Instead there lingers the everlasting question of how it could have happened to someone like Alice. Her presence alone could brighten the worst occasions and has always been cherished by her family and friends. She will be greatly missed, and will always have a place in our hearts.
As of yet no date has been set for her funeral but we will keep you informed of any developments. We are so proud to know her, and so sorry to lose her.
